The speaker for this course is
Mr. Gerald Birnberg, a name partner with the firm of Williams, Birnberg &
Andersen, L.L.P. in
Houston. Mr. Birnberg devotes the majority of his practice to complex
litigation, both federal and state, trial and appellate, civil and
criminal; and to alternate dispute resolution (mediation). He is
board certified in Civil Appellate Law by the Texas Board of Legal
Specialization. He is also a Certified Mediator, American
Academy of Attorney Mediators. He is admitted to practice in
all state
courts in Texas and before the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of
Appeals for the Fourth, Fifth, Eighth, Ninth, Tenth and Eleventh
Circuits and the U.S. District Court for the
Eastern, Northern, Southern and Western Districts of Texas. He is a
member of the State Bar of Texas and the Houston, American, and Federal
Bar Associations; Bar Association of the Fifth Federal Circuit; Houston
Bar Foundation; Texas Association of Civil Trial and Appellate
Specialists; Houston Trial Lawyers Association (director); Texas Trial
Lawyers Association (sustaining member); Governing Board, Story Time
(Museum of Printing History); Association of Trial Lawyers of America;
Harris County Criminal Lawyers Association; and National Association of
Criminal Defense Lawyers.. He received his law
degree from the University of Texas School of Law and his
undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin (B.S.,
