She is admitted to practice before all Texas courts; the U.S. District Court and the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas; the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit; and the U.S. Supreme Court. She is Board Certified in Civil Appellate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. She is a member of: the State Bar of Texas [Past Chair, Appellate Section, (1999-2000)]; the Houston Bar Association [Past Chair, Appellate Practice Section, (1991-1992)]; and the Texas Board of Legal Specialization [Civil Appellate Law Examination Committee, (1990 - 2005) and Civil Appellate Law Advisory Commission (1992 - 2000)]. She is a frequent author and speaker on civil trial and appellate law. She received her law degree from South Texas College of Law (J.D., Summa Cum Laude, 1980) and her undergraduate degree from Jacksonville University (B.S., 1973).
